Dr. Jennifer Lakis was born and raised in the state of Maine where she also attended medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine.  She completed her Traditional Osteopathic rotating internship at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine residency at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and is board-certified in OMM/NMM.  She also completed the Acumed Integrated Structural Acupuncture course, a comprehensive medical acupuncture program for physicians.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or OMM, employs gentle manual medicine techniques to improve health, relieve pain, and improve mobility and function. Dr. Lakis uses a variety of osteopathic techniques in the treatment of patients of all ages, infants through elderly adults.  She has enjoyed the privilege of this practice for over a decade.

In addition to her love for Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Lakis has long held a deep respect, curiosity, and appreciation for Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. The Integrative Structural Acupuncture approach relies heavily on the palpation based Japanese style of acupuncture, which dovetails very nicely with osteopathic treatment. Dr. Lakis may include some of these techniques into her practice when appropriate/requested.

Dr. Lakis has many interests relating to the care of Mind/Body/Spirit, and that is reflected in her approach to medicine, which often includes integrative medicine, nutrition, healthy living, movement/stretching, and the importance of self-care.
